happy birthday (to me)
Today is my birthday, and even though I proclaimed, over and over again, that I didn’t feel like making a big deal about it, I’m thrilled that no one listened to me. Also, amidst so many wonderful calls and notes cards, I received a gift from my son Noah that has to be shared here in This Playground.
Noah gave back to me the Fotoplay book that I gave to him a couple of months ago, with pages completed in ways that (even allowing for the expected level of mother’s bias) really knocked me off my feet.
Do you see what’s going on in this science lab?! The collection of the brain power, the end goal of the technicolor hat?
Can you see what’s in the cage on the left in the back? 🙂
For the page above, it’s the first time I’ve seen anyone design the whole scene underwater. And I love how the figure is grounded with that one big sneaker.
How about the role reversal in the page above……where each thing has dreams of being/doing something else…
And the feeling in this drawing below (playful on so many levels), as if the drawing is actually speaking to me, the viewer…
Then there’s this page that references one of our favorite TV shows, Project Runway…
Finally (for now) there’s this page, with a very hip cat named Breeze (on the license plate, Br3ZE)
who is heading out on the town in a big way, complete with adoring roped-off fans, and klieg lights that project a cat’s head.
Do I seem excited by this gift? In short, this morning, I cried a little river…
