celebrity solstice : transpacific workshops
I’ve spent the past month preparing for my upcoming watercolor workshops on the Celebrity Solstice. We’ll cross the Pacific Ocean to the islands of Oceania, Australia, and New Zealand. I’ll be teaching watercolor tricks and techniques to the passengers, using my paintings and source photos as points of departure. As always, the painting projects are inspired by our itineraries, national and endemic birds, the sea and sky…
Passengers will paint the Picasso Triggerfish, or Humuhu-munukunuku-a-pua-a, the State Fish of Hawaii, which is also the longest word in the Hawaiian language:
Inspired by Aboriginal art of Australia (this is possibly my favorite project), we’ll paint our itinerary from an abstracted bird’s-eye-view:
Below is a map of the first itinerary, which I used to create the painting above. And here’s an understatement: I’m really looking forward to spending another month as Onboard Artist in this fascinating part of the world.
