Crosswalk Design : Belfast, Maine

Flow To The Sea” is the crosswalk I designed for Our Town Belfast’s “As Unique As Belfast” crosswalk design competition. Inspired by the Penobscot Bay, the design is like a wave flowing across Main Street, dotted with colored stepping-stone circles.

This film, by my son Noah Fishman, documents two long mornings spent painting the crosswalk. “The Way Home,” also created by Noah, is an original song from his album of the same name.

I was one of five artists selected (based on my submission above) for this “Unique As Belfast” crosswalk art project. In early Spring, Our Town Belfast issued a call for artist design proposals. The selection committee received over 30 designs and narrowed the submissions to five finalists.
